Pinspiring Planning: Laura + Kyle

This weekend David and I attended my friend Laura’s wedding at the Cliffs at Lake Keowee in upstate South Carolina. The little mountain resort nestled right on Lake Keowee provided the perfect backdrop for her Pinterest perfect Big-Day! She crafted all the vases, picture frames, and a majority of the decor herself, and then made homemade apple butter for all the guests to take home with them (I have eaten it for the past two days, very delicious!) She looked stunning in her flowing white dress, perfect for the Blue Ridge backdrop and the sun setting over the lake. I was honored to get to be a part of her special day as my first stint as a wedding coordinator. It was so much fun helping organize all the decorations and making sure everything was exactly what she had been hoping and planning for for the last several months, plus we all know how I love to keep a schedule!!! She even convinced David to come and video her special day, so we were a great team, I got to boss him around and tell him what to do and when, haha every girls dream! So, let me share some of these pictures with you guys so you can see what I am gushing about. Such a gorgeous setting for a very special day!

First of all, her parents rented these awesome houses in the little community for the wedding party and some other out of town guests and family to stay in so we some how lucked out and there was an extra room! It was so amazing! I mean the view from the back porch was just relaxing and serene, definitely the most relaxing way I can think to wake up on the morning of your wedding!

Here are a few shots of the venue pre-ceremony and in the day light so you can see some of the decor and the gorgeous setting that I keep raving about! It was literally breath taking, especially once the sun started setting, and the weather couldnt have been better it was a high of about 70 and then cooled off to around 40 or 50 by the end of the night, but they had an in door and out door space for the reception so you could go inside, warm up and then head back out to the dance floor and get your groove on!

The ceremony was lovely, of course! They had an acoustic guitar player playing all the music for the ceremony, which was perfect for this setting, and at the end of the ceremony they “tied the knot” instead of doing a unity candle, or the sand thing, or whatever. It was really neat, He tied the “true Lovers knot” and then to show her devotion to him, she tightened it and returned it to the officiant before they were pronounced husband and wife. It was a cool extra little element. Everything she did was so obviously and meticulously planned out!

I loved all the little elements, like the burlap on the tables with the twine used to tie up the silverware, or the stained boxes she made for the flowers! One of my favorite elements was her cake stand, which was a lacquered tree stump that her childhood next door neighbor made for her. It was beautiful and added just to right touch to the cake!

So lets get on to some of the fun stuff! The decorations and flowers and little touches she spent all this time on! One of my favorite things she did was this little remembrance to the members of their family who weren’t able to be there and share the day with them! I loved that they had the pictures of them in special seats! Definitely something to think about for our wedding coming up in August!

They also had all the little things you needed to make an outdoor/ country wedding perfect! They had the lights strung up in the trees, cornhole boards, lanterns, everything! Here are a few different shots of the rest of the decor, so you can get a feel for it!

Here is a picture of all her flowers for bouquets, etc. so you can see the types of flowers she used! Great fall colors, and I loved the texture, etc! Perfect for the setting of the ceremony! The flowers were done by Cynthia’s in Pickens, SC!

And finally, here is a picture of me with the blushing bride! Again, so excited to help make her special day stress free! It was such a great weekend!!
